A lobby remodel was recently completed. Here at the Regillus, you can live a low maintenance, upscale lifestyle, and it's an ideal launchpad for frequent travelers. A great commuter location, 19th St. BART is only 4 blocks from here and the Transbay bus is close by.
The Regillus is an Oakland Landmark on Lake Merritt's Gold Coast, designed by architect Willis C. Lowe, a protegé of Julia Morgan. Completed in 1922 as a luxury apartment building (later converted to condominiums) in the Beaux Arts style, it was, at the time, one of the most expensive residential buildings in Oakland. The Regillus is adorned with balconies and balustrades, with features such as a circular drive with cobblestones, a grand marble entrance, formal lobby, salons, concierge, and beautiful formal gardens with multiple seating areas and full views of the lake, available for resident events. Built on the site of the former Schilling Mansion, The Regillus retains the original carriage house and a portion of its original gardens with redwood trees. The building has since received several makeovers, while respecting its gracious origins.
With a Walk Score of 97 and Bike Score of 88 at this location, you can reduce your carbon footprint and enjoy so many world-class amenities within blocks. Just steps from the Regillus are the western shores of beautiful Lake Merritt, with its romantic necklace of lights, 3 miles of walking and jogging trails, rowing, exotic gardens and a bird sanctuary. Fun fact: Lake Merritt was the country's first wildlife refuge and remains a mecca for all kinds of migrating birds. Local highlights and amazing eateries are too numerous to mention, but include one of the larger Whole Foods, the Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill, the Grand Lake Theater, and the historic Fox and Paramount Theaters. The epic, Saturday 9-2 Grand Lake Farmer's Market is locally famous and makes for a fun day loading up on organic provisions and delicious prepared foods.
